Holy Kailash Overland journey from Kathmandu leads to grand vista of Ganesh Himal (7,405 m) Langtang Lirung (7,234 m), Dorje Lakpa (6,980m/22,929ft) Mt. Gauri-Shanker (7,145 m) and Cho-Oyu 8,201 m / 26,906 ft, Shishapangma 8,013 / 26, 289 ft and Mt. Kailash at 6,714 m / 22,028 ft high on the vast Far South West of Tibetan plateau, which is wholly in Tibetan soil. Besides being holy it is also an incredible mountain of utmost beauty, with four grand faces representing jewels, as eastern face believed crystal, the western ruby, the southern sapphire and northern gold.
Holy Kailash Overland Tour a wonderful and adventurous pilgrimage journey with scenic drive from Kathmandu towards high Tibetan plateau with views of massive Mid Central and Western Himalaya, Shispangma, Langtang and other Himalayan range, and then reaching higher towards Medium-la pass with marvelous scenery of surrounding amazing landscapes of rolling hills in the shade of giant snow-capped peaks.
At first visit holy Lake Mansarovar and parikrama/ kora/circuit, from here drive on Barka plain to reach at Tarboche a holy spot west of Mt. Kailash, start the walk or parikrama with the night at Darchen view of Mt. Kailash North Face.
From here climb over the highest point of this trip at Drama-la pass at 5,470 m and descend towards Lamchu valley for overnight at Zutulpuk meaning a holy cave where one can observe the footprints of 11th-century saint Milarepa a poet and guru who traveled around this area in search of Nirvana.
After the holy walk back at Darchen town for the drive back to Kathmandu with great service of Well Plan Treks.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,345 m and then transfer to respective Hotels
Day 02: Kathmandu with a sightseeing tour and preparations for Tibet.
Day 03: Drive to Kyirong Nepal-Tibet Border 2,890 m – 9 hrs drive.
Day 04: At Kyirong acclimatization day and explore Tibetan culture and customs.
Day 05: Drive to Saga 4,400m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Drive to Paryang 4,550 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Drive to East of Lake Manasarovar 4,550 m – 06 hrs
Day 08: At Mansarovar Lake for acclimatization and rest day.
Day 09: Drive to Tarboche near Darchen 4,600m  walk to Dhiraphuk 4,900 m – 05 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Zutul-Puk 4,760 m via Dorma-la 5, 470 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Darchen and drive to Mayum-la – 04 hrs and 2 hrs ride.
Day 12: Drive back to Saga – 06 hrs.
Day 13: Drive to Kyirong 2,890 m transfer in local Guesthouse.
Day 14: Drive to Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
Day 15: International departure for homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,345 m and transfer to respective Hotels.
On reaching Kathmandu via respective airlines well received by company guides and staff for short drive in the hub of Kathmandu city where your hotels located. After checking into your lovely rooms getting refreshed join in at the Hotel lobby for group briefing regarding Holy Kailash Overland with other useful information to make your stay in Nepal and Bhutan more enjoyable and pleasant. 

Day 02: Kathmandu with the sightseeing tour, trek briefing, and preparations.
Morning after hearty breakfast, as per the given time our city and tour guide will lead you into the heart of Kathmandu city, for exciting historical and heritage tour of old Durbar (royal palace and courtyard) square of historical importance, includes Temple of Kumari (Living young virgin Goddess) Kastamandap Temple where Kathmandu name derived from, a temple built with the wood of a single tree, tour of old palace during the reign of Malla and late Shah kings. Tour leads to the famous landmarks of Nepal at Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,500 years old a Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa with all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha, afternoon back to the hotel, after an interesting tour rest of the day free at leisure and preparation for Holy Kailash Overland.

Day 03:  Drive to Kyirong Border 2,890 m -04 hrs drives.
From Syabrubesi morning drive on newly built road linking Nepal / Tibet border to Rasuwagadhi (1800m / 15 km / 1 hr min from Syabrubesi), here received by our Tibetan counterpart guide and drivers, after completing immigration & custom formalities on both side of the frontier Nepal / Tibet at Rasuwagadhi, continue drive further to Kerung county with first overnight stop in Tibet accommodation at local guest-house.At Kyirong afternoon with time to relax and enjoy views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal that borders Nepal and Tibet. Kyirong famous as the religious and historical place, home of 11th Centaury great saint and Guru Milarepa is known for his tantric wisdom as well as a poet and folk singer, his song is still remembered by local herdsman and villagers.

Day 04:   At Kyirong acclimatization day and explore Tibetan culture and customs.         
At Kyirong in Tibet for acclimatization and familiarization within Tibetan soil where you can take short walks around its villages and witness interesting Buddhist culture and custom of Tibetans with views of Ganesh and Langtang Northern Face.

Day 05: Drive to Drive to Saga 4,400 m -5 hrs.
The morning after breakfast drive continues on the wide vast Tibetan windswept plateau past few high passes with great views of a mountain range, as the drive continues with some small stop with villages and nomads camps where you can view sheep and yak grazing. Our journey heads towards remote corners of Tibet past many farm villages finally drive through a bridge over Yalung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) River which flows from the source at Mt. Kailash.Saga a growing town into the city with several lodges, hotels and restaurants, on arrival check into the best available hotels or guest houses.

Day 06:  Drive to Paryang 4,550 m. - 05 hrs. 
Starting morning drive which takes us past Saga town within complete wilderness, after few hours’ drive the road winds and climbs to a pass of about 4,900 m and then descends to a long stretch flat area, on a clear day great views of the distant snow-capped peaks towards northwest Nepal, after few hours of scenic drive then reaching a windswept village at Paryang for overnight stop.

Day 07:    Drive to east Manasrover Lake 4,550 m - 05 hrs. 
Today's drive leads to more barren, arid landscapes with few stops and through many small farm villages and nomads camps with large Tibetan tents serving as teahouses and restaurants, drive continues on this vast flat land and then climbing up to the pass at Mayam-la at 5,050 m the road meanders to a long ascend the road gains altitude rapidly at first, then levels crossing the barren base below the pass and with a gradual drive of few hours reach at the shore of Lake Manasarovar for the overnight stop.

Day 08:   At Manasrover acclimatization and rest day. 
Another rest day for acclimatization at holy Lake Manasrover, located in West Tibet between Mt. Kailash 6,714 meters and Gurla Mandhata Mountain Range stands at 7,694 meters. The Lake Manasrover floats beneath the shadow of holy Kailash as the lake formed in the mind of God. In Buddhist-Hindu-Jain religion, this is the holiest lake of Asia; the best time to go around Lake Manasrover is in late autumn and early spring when the streams and rivers are low. It is then possible to walk very near the shoreline, an optional drive around Manasrover Lake can be done on request which takes about four hours.

Day 09:  Drive to Tarboche trek to Dhirapuk 5,010 m - 05 hrs.
After a rest day, morning starts with a short drive on the Barkha windswept valley to near Darchen town, which is a busy place with bazaar, during the auspicious time this place is flooded with Tibetan and Indian pilgrims for kora, parikrama or holy circuit walks. Our journey continues further from Darchen town to Tarboche, one of the holy spot of this region with views of West Face of Mt. Kailash, from here our holy walk begins leading north on the wide arid terrain to Shershong, and with gradual climb and pleasant walk reaches to our overnight stop at Dhiraphuk Gompa, with magnificent view of holy Mt. Kailash North Face. Here depending upon the season with pilgrim’s crowd either in guest houses or tents with our camping.

Day 10:  Trek to Zutul-Puk 4,790 m - 06 hours.
From Dhiraphuk with the highest camping of this trip, morning walk continues on the uphill trail onto moraine for more than two hours, then with a steep climb at Dromo-la at 5,630m /18,525ft the highest point of this awesome journey, here a big boulder represents the goddess Dolma or Dromo (Tara) festooned with thousands of prayer flags and ritual offering by both Hindu’s and Buddhist pilgrims. This holy spot as well a physical and spiritual high point for the pilgrimage or kora, after a nice break here walk leads to descend towards a wide valley a flat area, on reaching the bottom of Dromo -la pass then the walk is pleasant reaching at Zutul-Puk Gompa for the overnight stop. Zuthul means cave in Tibetan, this place is named after a holy cave in which poet and saint Milarepa meditate in the early 11th century, his footprints can be seen on the cave rooftop.

Day 11:    Trek near Darchen and drive near Mayum-la 5,050m.
Today the last day of this holy circuit and kora, morning walk leads to a nice gradual walk for few hours on the winding trail, reaching at a narrow valley Gorge, from here our walking route turns west towards Darchen, just a before Darchen ending this holy trek for a drive towards near Mayum-la pass base for overnight camping, around this area chances of spotting some wildlife and the beautiful Kang a wild ass can be seen herds around this place.

Day 12:   Drive to Saga 4,500m - 06 hrs.
Morning drive over the high Mayum-la pass at 5,050 meters, then reaching the other side of the valley with interesting drive and parallel snow-capped mountains views that borders Nepal and Tibet, this long scenic drive reaches at Saga town for overnight stop, probably in the comfort of nice guesthouses and hotels after passing couple of towns like Paryang, Saga town a growing place with more building construction, this town which is situated on the bank of great river Yarlung Tsangpo or Brahmaputra River.  

Day 13:  Drive to Kyirong 2,890 m (Kyidrong / Dzonga) County camp or local Guesthouse.
An exciting drive back to reach Kyirong frontier town, the journey leads past great Tibetan dry plateau taking a newly opened route of five hours overland drive to reach the border town of Tibet-China and Nepal at Kyirong for last overnight stop in Tibet.

Day 14:   Drive to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotels.

Morning transfer into a vehicles either by car-coach or in tourist bus (as per the size of the group), for an overland journey back to Kathmandu with scenic views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields within nice villages and towns as drive brings you back at hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu.On reaching Kathmandu transfer to your respective hotels with time for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

Day 15:    International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in amazing Nepal, after a wonderful time on Holy Kailash Overland with grand services of Well Plan Treks, as per your international flight departure and reporting time, our guide and staff transfer you to the airport for your onward flight homeward bound or to next respective countries.
