How Long is the Trek to Everest Base Camp?

Normally, the trek to Everest Base Camp trek takes 16 days to complete. It takes 8  days to get to Base Camp and 4 days to get back down, broken down overall into 9 days of trekking and  2 days short trekking acclimatization days. One day Kathmandu sightseeing and one day Kathmandu free individual activities, 2 days arrival and departure.

Everest Base Camp Trekking short itinerary

There is a set trekking route for Everest Base Camp trekking that takes you through various villages, incredibly isolated spots with magnificent views of the mountain panoramas.

  • Way up: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding – Namche Bazaar – Tengboche – Dingboche – Lobuche – Gorak Shep – EBC
  • Way down: Gorek Shep – Pheriche – Tengboche – Monjo – Lukla – Kathmandu

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,345 m and then transfer to the respective Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing and preparations for the trek.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to phakding 2,610 m -04 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m- 06 hrs.
Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and local excursion.
Day 06: Trek to Tengboche 3,860 m-05hrs
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,210m -06hrs
Day 08: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization and short scenic excursion
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche 4,930m -06hrs
Day 10: Trek to Everest base camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep 5180m -06hrs
Day 11: Hike to kalapather 5545 m Trek to pangboche 3900m -06hrs
Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar 06 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla 06hrs
Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu and then transfer to your Hotel.
Day 15: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities and rest.
Day 16: International departure for homeward bound or to the respective country.
